Spanning over 20 years of work as a teacher, school administrator (e.g., principal), educator and author, Dr. Mattie Jones has been involved in the education of countless Indianapolis children and adults. Currently, a Professor and Director of Early Childhood Education and Teacher Preparation Programs at an Indiana University, Dr. Jones oversaw programs and was afforded the opportunity to develop and start the Care & Learning Drop-in Center which provides child care services for the children of the University’s students. Her compassion to use acquired skills to make an impact in the field of Early Childhood inspired her to implement the Consultant Company PreKKeys. As an Early Childhood (PreK) Consultant Dr. Jones’s is dedicated to the developmental progression of young children. PreKKeys services are designed to meet the individual needs of young children and organizations the serve them. * Child Outcomes Data Analysis * Strategic Planning * Action Planning * Training * Presentations * Guidance (Disciple) Her abundance of experience training and developing child care providers motivated her to write and publish the book “Disciplining Someone Else’s Children” A Guide for Child Care Providers, a researched-based guide to the discipline of preschool children, released June 2015 and available on Amazon.com http://bit.ly/DiscipliningChildren. Dr. Jones’ second book “What Did Your Parent’s Do To You?” reveals true stories that open windows to how childhood experiences influence the journeys people take through life as well as how they parent. This journey started with her first book “Missing Link?” documentation of various parents’ perspectives concerning the education of their children. Her latest book release is titled “NURTURE” which connect the Social and emotional needs of children to learning. Dr. Jones earned a K-12 Education Teacher degree from the University of Indianapolis; a Master's degree in K-12 Educational Administration from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana; and a Ph.D., in the Philosophy of Education from Indiana State University, Terra Haute, Indiana, Specialized Trainings & Several Certifications in Early Childhood Education. She serves as Vice President on the Indianapolis division of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (INAEYC) Executive Board, a member of the Early Childhood Education Advisory Board. Active memberships include; Child Development Associate-Professional Development Specialist (CDA), The Indiana Association for the Education of Young Child (INAEYC), The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
